Materials Engineer Overview
- West Texas Paving engages in the construction and improvement of streets, parking lots, highways, airport facilities, and other infrastructure-related projects as well as site preparation and infrastructure services for industrial and commercial developments.
- The company also produces aggregates and HMAC for use as construction materials. The materials division engages in the production of resources for both company projects and resale to public and private sector customers.
- Perform field and/or laboratory tests relating to hot mix asphalt and aggregate materials
- Work will be within a field laboratory at the Wolfforth, Texas Asphalt Plant
- Participate in continuing education through TxDOT certification programs
- Personal Protective Equipment (ex. breathing mask, gloves, earplugs,) is required
- 50 hours per week
Materials Engineer Tasks and Responsibilities
- Use both lab and field instruments to determine pavement compositions and perform analysis during both design and construction
- Perform material sampling of both asphalt hot mix and aggregates
- Report daily QC testing for asphalt plant production
- Conduct material testing using TxDOT quality control guidelines
- Review plans to ensure compliance with testing and specifications
- Provide technical guidance to coworkers, management, and clients
Materials Engineer Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Material Engineering or related field (required)
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift 50-pound buckets
- Precision in work and attention to detail
- Maintain a clean and organized working area
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work activities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
